New Assistant Professor, Dr. Angela Fillingim!
The Department of Sociology and Sexuality Studies at San Francisco State University is pleased to announce that Dr. Angela Fillingim, will join us in Fall 2022, as an assistant professor.
As a Salvadoran American scholar, her work examines the intersections of race, knowledge, and social justice through an exploration of human rights movements from community-based perspectives. To do this, Dr. Fillingim examines how elite political actors understand human rights abuses perpetrated against marginalized communities. Also, she maintains an ongoing commitment to examining how human rights movements operate in transnational contexts to seek justice for activists and communities. Ultimately, this project looks beyond state politics to explore movement’s demands for healing, love, and communal truth. We are excited to welcome Dr. Fillingim!
